A estrutura curricular do Curso de Mestrado Profissional em Hemoterapia Biotecnologia inclui disciplinas obrigatórias e optativas, que permitirão ao aluno um direcionamento de sua formação.
A estrutura curricular do Curso inclui disciplinas básicas clássicas, abordadas de maneira a desenvolver nos alunos os conceitos essenciais da Hemoterapia, Medicina Transfusional, Terapia Celular, Diagnósticos Moleculares, Processos Biotecnológicos e Biotecnologia e a proporcionar-lhes facilidades para a atuação em diferentes níveis da área. O currículo proposto está focado nas seguintes áreas:
1) Hemoterapia

2.2. Processos Biotecnológicos.
Disciplinas Obrigatórias – Hemoterapia:
• Gestão de Unidades de Hemoterapia.
Compreende os princípios básicos que regem a gestão de uma Unidade de Hemoterapia incluindo princípios sanitários, legais e Gestão de Qualidade, inclusive com programas de certificação e acreditação.
• Captação, triagem de doadores, coleta e atendimento a doadores.
Compreende os princípios básicos que norteiam a doação de sangue incluindo regras e metodologias de captação na comunidade de candidatos à doação de sangue. Inclui também os critérios nacionais estabelecidos pelas normas vigentes e pela literatura atual para triagem de doadores e coleta de bolsas de sangue, além do atendimento de doadores inaptos para doação ou que apresentem reações adversas à doação.
• Metodologia em Pesquisa.
Compreende os princípios básicos que norteiam a realização de pesquisas na área da saúde incluindo orientações sobre pesquisa bibliográfica e confecção de monografias.
• Processamento, conservação e distribuição de sangue, hemocomponentes e hemoderivados.
Compreende os princípios básicos da produção e modificação dos hemocomponentes, bem como sua conservação e distribuição. Compreende também técnicas de gerenciamento de estoque de hemocomponentes e hemoderivados e a manutenção da rastreabilidade dos produtos distribuídos.
• Detecção das infecções transmissíveis por transfusão.
Compreende os princípios básicos relacionados aos agentes infecciosos transmissíveis por transfusão, os testes de triagem utilizados em serviços de Hemoterapia bem como testes confirmatórios e o controle de qualidade aplicado a um laboratório de sorologia
• Imuno-hematologia
Compreende os princípios básicos da área de imuno-hematologia básica e avançada com ênfase na triagem imuno-hematológica de doadores de sangue, na rotina básica dos testes pré-transfusionais, na investigação de associação de anticorpos anti-eritrocitários, em técnicas complementares de imuno-hematologia para fenotipagem eritrocitária, titulação de anticorpos, dentre outras. Compreende ainda noções sobre as aplicações clínicas da Imuno-hematologia e de controle de qualidade de reagentes e calibração de centrífugas.
• Métodos moleculares aplicados à Hemoterapia
Compreende aulas teóricas sobre os conceitos básicos em Biologia Molecular, estrutura genômica dos antígenos eritrocitários, estrutura genômica dos principais agentes infecciosos transmissíveis pelo sangue e as bases moleculares das doenças genéticas. Compreende também aulas práticas sobre isolamento de ácidos nucléicos, interpretação de testes moleculares na genotipagem dos antígenos eritrocitários, aplicação e interpretação das ferramentas de biologia molecular no diagnóstico clínico das doenças infecciosas, genéticas e leucemias.
• Células-tronco
Compreende aulas teóricas sobre conceitos, propriedades e aplicações das células-tronco incluindo os três tipos de células-tronco da medula óssea ou sangue do cordão umbilical e as células-tronco embrionárias humanas. Compreende também aulas práticas sobre os procedimentos de isolamento, cultivo, expansão, caracterização e potencial de diferenciação das mesmas.
• Controle de Qualidade em Hemoterapia.
Compreende os princípios básicos do Controle de Qualidade em Hemoterapia incluindo técnicas para realização dos testes, sua interpretação e orientação sobre as medidas a serem adotadas. Compreende também orientações sobre validação de processos, equipamentos e reagentes.
• Sistema HLA.
Compreende os princípios básicos das metodologias aplicadas em laboratório de histocompatibilidade.
• Criopreservação de células.
Compreende os princípios básicos das metodologias aplicadas na criopreservação e processamento de células para uso clínico e para a contagem de CTH.
• Aféreses.
Compreende os princípios básicos dos procedimentos de coleta de células para uso clínico por aférese e dos procedimentos de aférese terapêutica.
• Hemoglobinopatias.
Compreende os princípios básicos das doenças hereditárias que comprometem a hemoglobina e seu diagnóstico.
• Medicina Transfusional.
Compreende os princípios básicos das atividades de Medicina Transfusional à luz das normas vigentes e da literatura atual.

• Introdução à Biotecnologia e Bioprocessos
Compreende o aprendizado dos conceitos básicos de Biotecnologia e Bioprocessos, apresentando desde exemplos históricos de processos e produtos biotecnológicos até o estágio atual da biotecnologia e dos bioprocessos proporcionado pelos avanços nos estudos científicos.
• Bioinformática Aplicada à Biotecnologia
Compreende o estudo dos fundamentos de bioinformática para resolver as questões habituais que surgem na rotina de um laboratório de Biologia Molecular.

Compreende o estudo de conceitos fundamentais da pratica laboratorial, introduzindo conceitos aplicados de química analítica e análise instrumental, voltados principalmente ao dia a dia de um laboratório de biologia molecular

Compreende à atualização dos alunos em temas de interesse e aplicação na área de Biotecnologia, tais como: processos biotecnológicos, desenvolvimento de biofármacos e imunobiológicos, novas áreas de pesquisa em biotecnologia, métodos diagnósticos moleculares e engenharia genética.
• Imunologia Aplicada à Biotecnologia
Compreende a consolidação e/ou atualização dos conceitos, provendo integração e visão crítica do conhecimento em Imunologia aplicada à área de Biotecnologia.
• Processos Biotecnológicos com células animais
Compreende a preparação do profissional para atuar na área de processos biotecnológicos empregando células animais. Para tal, busca-se integrar conceitos de engenharia bioquímica, operações unitárias e de biologia para capacitar o aluno ao desenvolvimento de processos relacionados a estas áreas.
• Cultura de células de mamíferos
Compreende estudos teóricos e práticos de procedimentos de isolamento, expansão e criopreservação de células de mamíferos primárias bem como do cultivo de linhagens celulares aderentes e não-aderentes. Fornecer conhecimentos sobre as diferentes fontes, marcadores de superfície e formas de caracterização de células de mamíferos e a discussão de legislações vigentes para a produção de produtos celulares em condições de boas práticas de manipulação.
• Engenharia genética para produção de proteínas recombinantes e organismos geneticamente modificados
Compreende a construção de conhecimentos sobre os fundamentos da engenharia genética, a história, aplicações atuais e perspectivas, os quais têm permitido a elucidação desde questões básicas da biologia como a reprogramação celular, bem como, o desenvolvimento de produtos recombinantes com aplicações em diversas áreas da saúde, com foco particular relacionado à produção de proteínas recombinantes em células humanas, organismos geneticamente modificados e às perspectivas atuais da biologia sintética.
• Processos de Separação e Purificação
Compreende o conhecimento básico sobre métodos bioquímicos utilizados para o isolamento, a purificação e caracterização de macromoléculas, em particular, proteínas e peptídeos.

Compreende o conhecimento sobre o diagnóstico laboratorial das neoplasias hematopoéticas para fins de investigação clínica e de pesquisa, incluindo métodos citológicos bem como caracterização imunofenotípica, molecular e citogenética das células neoplásicas.
• Terapia mediada por células
Compreende a apresentação da utilização de células como ferramentas biotecnológicas para fins terapêuticos, introdução de noções básicas das normas que regem a produção de células para fins terapêuticos e transmitir ao aluno uma visão geral de estratégias terapêuticas baseadas em células.
• Gestão de Qualidade
Compreende o estudo de bases teórico-práticas da gestão de programas de qualidade em processos biotecnológicos

Compreende o estudo dos princípios básicos de biossegurança de acordo com as normas vigentes e da literatura atual. Apresentar e discutir as condições de segurança dos profissionais que atuam em ambientes laboratoriais, as condições necessárias para uma administração responsável da vida humana, animal, a responsabilidade ambiental e o debate de temas relacionadas a bioética que envolvam a não existencia de consenso moral bem como a responsabilidade moral de cientistas em suas pesquisas e suas aplicações.

Compreende o desenvolvimento do comportamento empreendedor e inovador; identificação de novas oportunidades de negócios, análise de viabilidade financeira do negócio; desenvolvimento de um plano de negócios para pequenas empresas; investigação dos elementos psicológicos e sociológicos que influenciam os empreendedores.

Compreende a sensibilização crítica dos alunos para a importância da inovação no contexto científico, acadêmico e empresarial; análise crítica sobre o processo de inovação tecnológica em empresas, a implantação da função tecnológica e sua relação com as demais áreas: marketing, RH, finanças e produção. Além de apresentar as políticas públicas focadas na inovação e as linhas de fomento destinadas a estes propósitos.

The curriculum of the Professional Master Degree in Biotechnology and Hematology includes mandatory and elective subjects that will allow the student an orientation of their training.
The curriculum of the course includes classic basic subjects addressed in order to develop in students the essential concepts of Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Cell Therapy, Molecular Diagnostics, Biotechnological Processes and Biotechnology and provide them with training to perform at different levels of the area. The proposed curriculum is focused in the following areas:
1) Hematology

Compulsory Courses – Hematology:
• Hematology Unit Management.
Understand the basic principles governing the management of a Hematology Unit including health principles, legal and quality management, including certification and accreditation programs.
• Collection, donor screening, collection and service to donors.
Understand the basic principles that guide blood donation including rules and funding methodologies in the community of candidates for blood donation. It also includes national criteria laid down by the current rules and the current literature for donor screening and blood collection bags, in addition to the care for ineligible donors or for patients who have adverse reactions to donation.
• Research Methodology.
Understand the basic principles that guide the development of research in the health field including guidance on literature and preparation of monographs.
• Processing, storage and distribution of blood, blood components and blood products.
It comprises the basic principles of the production of blood products and modification as well as its storage and distribution. It also includes inventory management techniques of blood products and blood products and maintaining the traceability of the products distributed.
• Detection of transfusion-transmitted infections.
Understand the basic principles related to infectious agents transmitted by transfusion, screening tests used in hemotherapy services and confirmatory testing and quality control applied to a serology lab.
• Immuno-hematology
It comprises the basic principles of the area of basic and advanced immuno-hematology with an emphasis on immuno-hematological screening of blood donors, the basic routine of pre-transfusion testing, the association of anti-erythrocyte antibodies research in technical immunohematology complementary to erythrocyte phenotyping, antibody titration, among others. It also includes notions about the clinical applications of immuno-hematology and quality control reagents and calibration of centrifuges.
• Molecular methods applied to Hematology
It comprises lectures on the basic principles in Molecular Biology, genomic structure of erythrocyte antigens, genomic structure of the main transmissible infectious agents in blood and the molecular basis of genetic diseases. It also includes practical classes for isolating nucleic acids, molecular tests the interpretation of genotyping of blood group antigens, application and interpretation of molecular biology tools in clinical diagnosis of infectious and genetic diseases, and leukemias.
• Stem cells
It comprises lectures on concepts, properties and applications of stem cells including three kinds of bone marrow or umbilical cord blood stem cells and human embryonic stem cells. It also includes practical lessons on the isolation procedures, culture, growth, their characterization and differentiation potential.
• Quality Control in Hematology.
Understand the basic principles of Quality Control in Hematology including techniques for performing the tests, interpretation and guidance on the measures to be adopted. It also includes guidance on validation processes, equipment and reagents.
• HLA system.
Understand the basic principles of the methodologies applied in histocompatibility laboratory.
• Cell Cryopreservation.
It comprises the basic principles of the methodologies used in the processing and cryopreservation of cells for clinical use and to count HSC.
• Apheresis.
It comprises the basic principles of cell collection procedures for clinical use by apheresis and therapeutic apheresis procedures.
• Hemoglobin.
Understand the basic principles of genetic disorders that compromise the hemoglobin and its diagnosis.
• Transfusion Medicine.
Understand the basic principles of transfusion medicine activities in the light of existing rules and current literature.

It comprises learning the principles of Biotechnology and Bioprocess, presenting from historical examples of biotechnological processes and products to the current state of biotechnology and bio-processes provided by advances in scientific studies.

It comprises the study of bioinformatics foundations to address the usual questions that arise in the routine of a molecular biology laboratory.

It includes the study of fundamental concepts of laboratory practice, introducing concepts of applied analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis, mainly intended for the daily life of a molecular biology laboratory.
• Advanced Studies in Biotechnology
It comprises the updating of students in topics of interest and application in the field of biotechnology, such as biotechnological processes, development of biopharmaceuticals, new areas of research in biotechnology, molecular diagnostic methods and genetic engineering.
• Immunology Applied to Biotechnology
It comprises the consolidation and/or updating of concepts, providing integration and critical view of knowledge in immunology applied to the field of Biotechnology.
• Biotechnological Processes with animal cells
It comprises the preparation of professionals to work in the field of biotechnological processes using animal cells. To this end, it seeks to integrate concepts of biochemical engineering, unit operations and biology to enable the student to develop processes related to these areas.
• Mammalian cell culture
It comprises theoretical and practical procedures for isolation, expansion and cryopreservation of primary mammalian cells and culture of adherent and non-adherent cell lines. It provides knowledge of the different sources, surface markers and forms of characterization of mammalian cells and the discussion of current legislation for the production of cellular products following good handling practices.
• Genetic engineering for the production of recombinant protein and genetically modified organisms
It comprises the construction of knowledge about the basics of genetic engineering, history, current applications and perspectives, which have allowed the elucidation from basic questions of biology and cellular reprogramming and the development of recombinant products with applications in several areas of health, with a particular focus related to the production of recombinant proteins in human cells, genetically modified organisms and the current perspectives of synthetic biology.
• Separation and Purification Processes
It comprises a basic knowledge of biochemical methods used for isolation, purification and characterization of macromolecules, particularly proteins and peptides.
